Why do I need oral conscious sedation?

• Oral conscious sedation is recommended to patients with moderate to severe anxiety or for more invasive dental procedures which may take longer to complete.

The Problem:

• Moderate to severe anxiety that doesn't allow a patient to have dental work completed

What is oral conscious sedation?



• Oral conscious sedation is a procedure where your dentist prescribes you a sedative medication (usually in pill form) to be taken an hour prior to your appointment.  Your dentist will evaluate you upon arrival to determine if the level of sedation needs to be increased and if additional medication is indicated

*Unlike nitrous oxide, patients undergoing oral conscious sedation MUST have a driver to and from their appointment.  Additionally, an adult must be present the remainder of the day after the procedure to monitor the patient when they are home.
